The Mentally Ill Murdered and Tortured in Prison and Obama and His Oil Company Gangsters Continue to Rape the Planet

Darren Rainey, Murdered by guards in a Florida prison

Darren Rainey, Murdered by guards in a Florida prison

In "Madness: in Florida prisons, mentally ill inmates have been tortured, driven to suicide, and killed by guards," recently published in The New Yorker, reporter Eyal Press tells the story of the horrific death of Darren Rainey, who died after two hours in a shower of scalding hot water -- boiled to death. He was not the only prisoner subjected to this form of torture. Prisons are now the dominant mental-health institutions in the United States. This is the story not only of abuse comparable to that in Guantanamo or Abu Ghraib, but of the mental health professionals who are caught in the cover-up of brutality toward people they are morally and professionally required to protect.

Eyal Press is an author an investigative journalist. Check out his website.
