Orpheus Reed, who writes on environmental issues for Revolution - revcom.us, will discuss President Obama's recent decision to veto the Keystone XL pipeline, which would bring super-polluting crude oil from Canadian tar sands to refineries in the US, increasing the destruction of the environment in the U.S. and Canada in multiple ways, and adding to the problem of climate change which is rapidly approaching a global catastrophe.

#ShutDownA14 on Trial
On November 5th trial began for the first three of ten people who face trial for civil disobedience during #ShutDownA14 protests to stop police murder.
On April 14, 2015, people took to the streets in more than 30 cities nationwide to say that the movement to stop police murder was not going away, and nobody should accept "business as usual" in which police kill people every day.
This year to date, more than 1000 people have been killed by police. Fifteen demonstrators were arrested on April 14, in an act of civil disobedience. The authorities are now charging ten of them with misdemeanors which could bring a year in jail. We'll talk with Lucha Bright and Joe Scogin, two of those facing trial.
The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek
South African playwright Athol Fugard has been called "A vital chronicler of the political, moral and spiritual damage wreaked in his country by apartheid."
Inspired by the life of South African artist Nukain Mabuza, "The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek" examines the impact of apartheid, and the formal end of apartheid, on the country and the people within it.
Michael is joined by Simon Levy, the director, and two of the actors, Thomas Silcott and Suanne Spoke.
